Introduction
Qualtrics can be used to deliver validated M2C2 assessments while keeping the resulting cognitive assessment data within your institution's Qualtrics environment.
Qualtrics is a strong option for studies that do not require advanced scheduling and are looking for a lower-cost option, particularly if JavaScript functionality is already enabled at your institution. It can be used if your institution has Qualtrics with JavaScript access, although this feature may require additional institutional configuration or associated fees. It has limited scheduling capabilities and does not support advanced EMA features. Data processing and scoring would need to be completed by your team, for example, using provided scripts.

Your institution's Qualtrics license must allow custom JavaScript. If you are unsure if you have access, please contact your institution. Note, this is not available in the free version of Qualtrics and the M2C2 team cannot provide this for you. The M2C2 assessments will not run in Qualtrics without this capability. JavaScript is not included with every Qualtrics license and may also be restricted by your institution's account settings.

The M2C2 Qualtrics workflow uses a QSF Generator to create a Qualtrics Survey Format (.qsf) file containing the selected assessments and the JavaScript needed to run them. After importing the QSF, your team can add survey questions and configure the rest of the study.
With this setup:
- Data are stored in and downloaded from Qualtrics, not the Penn State M2C2 server.
- Your team exports the original Qualtrics response data as a CSV file for the M2C2 processing and scoring pipeline.
- Supported assessments include Symbol Search, Grid Memory, Color Shapes, and Color Dots.
